Availability 2017

For discussing regular gaming nights and what we'll be playing.

I hear that the new interface is better with keeping you in a group, so you can squad up before joining.

Now, you’re able to create a Squad before you actually enter into a game. Being able to join up with your friends and join into a game together makes it a much smoother experience, and helps make sure you’re able to spawn on your buddies as soon as you’re in the game.

I'm rubbish with time zones so no idea if this means tonight will be interrupted, either way a welcome change.

Its already happening, but with it being described as a 'rollout' they're probably doing it per continent and if they're smart they'll do it for us in the middle of the day when its quiet.

Well, not sure if co-incidence or the windows update but my BF4 thinks it isn't installed.....

Attempting a steam-like re-download over the top of existing trick now.

EDIT : Thankfully, this seems to be working.

Rename BF4 folder.
Start download, let it get to 1%
Pause download, quit origin
replace BF4 folder with original.
restart origin, continue download.

Takes a while to re-check files but flys through once done.

OK will test when I get in, ta!

Joining as a squad sounds great, one of my major gripes about the game!

I had to do this slightly differently, but same sort of thing.

Basically opened Origin- Battlefield had vanished.

> Renamed Battlefield 4 installation folder
> Set Battlefield to Install so new folder was created
> Paused download
> Replaced new folder with old folder
> Resumed download
> Origin 'realised' BF4 was installed but downloaded a couple of GB update
> All addons started to 'install' - So just pause them and restart them and Origin 'realises' they're installed

Worse update process ever, makes ours Mach look streamlined!

Yep, me to. I've fav'd a few more hardcore servers but TBH don't really care if it's normal or not so long as we're on killing folk together.

I've also focused on 32 player, Conquest (not large).

Awww, bless.

I'll try and get on... my PC is behaving oddly again this morning so I might have to spend time on that tbh.

Didn't make it last night. Probably not going to be on now until Monday and even then unsure.

Having a few issues with my PC, blue screens etc so gonna give it a re-install which means a lot of re-downloading of games!

Oh no! :(

Not sure if I'll make it on tonight or not. If I do it might just be for a few turns on XCOM2 in between jobs (I can get a LOT done in those loading times!)

I won't be around no.

Computer isn't bricked but I'll be honest I've not a clue what created this problem. I'm re-installing the OS tomorrow.

Sequence of events of the last few weeks were;

Updated graphics drivers
PC was blue screening randomly
Started having random reboots > Noticed GPU fans not spinning
Reseated GPU - Fixed fans
PC blue screened upon reboot, sometimes taking 2 attempts to get in
Attempted system restore - 'there was a problem, not changes were made'
Blue screening gets worse
Attempted full system refresh
Boots up to black screen - Unresponsive
After 3rd reboot reset and restore options are given but none work
Tried Googling and renaming some system files - No change.

So in other words its a re-install... Before I do it I'll reseat all my components I think as well.

I suppose now would be a good time to get an SSD and install the OS onto that but I just don't have the cash right now... plus I don't actually know what the root cause of all this was, I could re-install and find the problem still exists as well which is a little worrying.

I'm sure a re-install will sort it. It'll be a total format of the disk and clean installation so hopefully if they are any problems, they will be really obvious as to what they are.

Should be back online soon.

Reinstalled the PC but not without a few hiccups. Also blue screened once.... unconvinced its a serious problem just yet, just going to see how it rolls.

Only got BF4 installed for multiplaying right now, installed a select few other games for now whilst I see how things go.

I'll be on BF4 anyway so you'll have somebody to play with! Glad to hear it's working again.

I'm looking around at a full upgrade in time for LAN night, finally feels like I'm able to get ahead at the moment... not fixed the car yet though so you never know!

Unsure if Mach will make it as he doesn't sound too great today.

I'll just be lolling around on mumble, up for some BF4 if anyone else is.

I think it will be a while before I upgrade. I'm pretty happy with my setup at the moment so I'm just tucking away a bit each month for when the system can't keep up or it goes up in a puff of black smoke. After putting that new (not new) gfx card I snagged off ebay for about £50 it's much better so I'll probably just do that again in 12-18 months if needed.

I'll be on tonight for a few rounds of Battlefield probably followed by a couple of battles on XCom 2.

Edit: I see it will be a quiet night, up for something else or I'll just come on and chat if we're all playing our own games.

Also, Helldivers is available for $10. I know this is one we've had on our radar and that's a low enough price for me.

Edit 2: The other games you get in the bundle don't look too bad for the most part, I'd originally dismissed them as guff but a couple actually look really good fun Not primal carnage. I'm buying!

SHould be there, just woke up and don't feel like a soft but spikey building. Honest to god full blown hallucinations this morning. Tired but should be around for BF4 for at least a bit.

Saving ma pennies for April upgrade, happy with games I got for now.

Looks okay, although 'from the makers of Magicka' is a red flag for me, I'll avoid unless everyone else says its worthy.

What's this Player Unknown Battlegrounds like? Can we get an honest review from Archie or Kasto? Looks alright and Unreal Engine too so I'm sure it'll be build fairly solid (none of this Unity Engine student shit) but its got some bad rep on latency issues... and its still in early access which always a bit of a gamble too. Price looks like its £10 too much as well.

Yeah, magika was an unfinished mess, not rewarding that shit. Battlegrounds, meh, if it's super cheap - I've already got a great battlefield shooter that is already paid for.

Reviews for Helldivers are very positive on Steam and I've had a couple of friends recommend it to me. Last I mentioned it you guys seemed keen on it.

Agree on Battlefield, especially early access. Happy to wait on this one.
