Hamachi

To join in some of the games we play here you require Hamachi, this application simulates a LAN over the internet and has many advantages such as avoiding random idiots and making creating and joining games a lot quicker and easier.

Installation

Setting up Hamachi is quick simple and free. Steps have been outlined below :

There is currently a bug with Hamachi that stops users seeing each others games. If you are already using it but are at or below version 1.0.2.1 then disable automatic updates and you will be fine. If you haven’t installed it yet or you have a newer version follow the instructions below.

1) Download Hamachi version 1.0.1.1 from http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=hamachi (the official Hamachi website is http://www.hamachi.cc/) You must download the correct version. Newer versions cause issues with some games.
2) Install Hamachi, It is advised that unless you are aware of the implications you disable vunerable windows services (an option during the installation) as this option allows others to see your shared folders if enabled. If you are downgrading from a borken version of Hamachi you will be asked if you wish to continue with an upgrade (yes, to an older version!) - you do, it will keep your settings.
3) Join the network “Machine@Blackcat” you will need the password, speak to an admin in Teamspeak. This is to filter out any potentially abusive people that may stumble across this website.

Once Hamachi is connected and you have a constant GREEN light you are ready to begin. If you have problems go here or ask us on the TeamSpeak server.

When the constant green light is on, you should be able to join and start virtual LAN games with anybody else in the VPN, people online have white names. As a rule, if you can “ping” (right click) a person then you will be able to play games with them. If you use multiple groups everyone wishing to play a game with you must usually be in at least one group that includes all the other players.
